Tierras Andinas’ tour begins early with an excursion to the Sacred Valley at 7:00 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel and start by visiting the Archaeological Center of Pisac, located 45 minutes away from Cusco. Pisac derives its name from the Quechua term for «Partridge,» a bird that characterizes this district.
This place will provide you with insights into the advanced knowledge achieved by the Cusqueños (Incas) in their extensive agricultural terraces, architecture, and urban planning.
It holds a special charm for having been part of the Qhapaq Ñan (Inca road system), which connected the jungle, now known as the Manu Biosphere Reserve, and served as a route to reach Qosqo (Cusco), the center or navel of the world. At midday, we will head to the town of Urubamba where you will enjoy a buffet lunch and savor the delicious Peruvian cuisine.
In the afternoon, we will visit the archaeological center of Ollantaytambo, which served as a storage place for agricultural products and was a strategic zone as a military and religious center to administer and control the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
This is deduced from the constructions that were presumably used for agricultural deposits and for military purposes, such as walls and watchtowers. It was Inca Pachacútec who brought Ollantaytambo to its maximum splendor.
Here in Ollantaytambo, we will board our train in the afternoon, heading to Aguas Calientes, a beautiful town where we will spend the night, concluding our day. Overnight in Aguas Calientes
