Tour OverviewOn our Machu Picchu By Train 1-Day, you will embark on a day of exploration at the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu during this comprehensive day trip departing from Cusco. Uncover the secrets of this renowned mountaintop Inca site with a local guide, delving into its construction, history, and the daily life of its inhabitants. The tour maintains a relaxed and leisurely pace, making it an excellent choice for first-time visitors, families, and solo travelers.
ItineraryNote: While most of our Machu Picchu by train 1-day tours depart from Cusco at 03:00 am in the morning, we can also accommodate later departure schedules upon request. At 03:00 am, we will pick you up and commence a 1.5-hour drive to the village of Ollantaytambo, situated in the Sacred Valley. There, we will board our train to Aguas Calientes. The train journey itself offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience with breathtaking landscapes. As we follow the course of the Urubamba River downstream through the Sacred Valley, you will arrive in Aguas Calientes at 06:40 am. From there, a 30-minute bus ride will take you to Machu Picchu. Upon passing through the Mapi checkpoint, your guide will lead you to the Guardhouse, where you can capture a postcard-worthy shot of Machu Picchu. Subsequently, you will embark on a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, during which you will delve into the history of the Inca civilization and explore the key highlights of the site. This tour includes visits to the Sun Temple, the Temple of Three Windows, the Inca’s House, the Main Plaza, Wayrana, the Sacred Rock, and more. After touring the citadel, you will take a bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you will enjoy lunch. Following lunch, at 02:55 pm, you will board the train for the return journey to Ollantaytambo. From there, a private van will transport you to Cusco. We will drop you off at your hotel at 07:00 pm.
